Halifax is a trading division of Bank of Scotland plc, operating within Lloyds Banking Group. Originally a building society founded in 1853 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, it demutualised and merged with Bank of Scotland to form HBOS in 2001. Lloyds TSB rescued HBOS in 2009, bringing Halifax into the Lloyds Banking Group. Halifax is one of the UK's largest retail banks with approximately 8 million app users.
