Tesco Personal Finance plc was established in 1997 as a joint venture between Tesco and Royal Bank of Scotland before becoming wholly owned by Tesco. In November 2024, its credit card, loan and savings portfolios were acquired by Barclays Bank UK PLC for £700 million, which continues to offer these products under the Tesco Bank brand via a long-term partnership with Tesco.
